The Decisive Moment

The Decisive Moment is the “simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as the precise organization of forms which gives that event its proper expression.” Arguably the greatest photographer of his time, Cartier-Bresson was a renowned photojournalist and one of the founders of Magnum Photos. He worked for Life and other magazines for over 30 years of his life.

The Pre-1962 America in Color

I came across a wonderful group in Flickr by chance and fell in love with the photos there. “The Pre-1962 America…In Color” group on Flickr has an amazing collection of old, color photographs nearly 50 years old. Most of the photographs in this group were taken in the 1950’s and viewing them is curious…bordering on eerie. Most of the photos we see from the mid 20th century are obviously in black and white, and to view these particular ones in color is quite unusual. Thinking that these were not actors …

Pieter Hugo is a South African-based photographer who’s won loads of prestigious awards. Hugo has some very interesting albums including Messina/Musina and Rwanada 2004; however the one that I found most remarkable was ‘The Hyena and Other Men’.

I’ve just finished playing around with Google’s first web browser “Chrome”, that’s still in beta version. It’s fully functional and is very easy on the computer’s memory and CPU usage. Firefox is still my favorite browser (can’t push Chrome up to 1st place just yet) but the major issue I’ve had is it’s constant draining of my computer’s resources. More often than not, I end up with Firefox eating up 90% and more of the CPU usage which slows down my machine and makes me very, very upset. Chrome does …
